Job Description:

Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Medical Assistant (MA)

Location: Columbia, MO

Department: Outpatient Services

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary: In this role, you will administer medications to clients using various methods, conduct nursing assessments including physical/mental health exams, document medication administration and assessments accurately, manage medication stocks and refills, communicate with clients on medication needs, assist with rooming clients and obtaining vitals/samples, complete required nursing documentation, provide education to clients, ensure proper medical recordkeeping, oversee infection control and client hygiene, and participate in meetings as a nursing resource.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications via oral, injection, self-administration per requirements

  • Perform nursing assessments - physical, mental health, psychiatric screeners

  • Document medication administration and assessments completely per standards

  • Conduct MAR reviews, medication counts, monitor stock levels, prepare pass meds

  • Communicate with clients on medication questions/needs, stage refill requests

  • Room clients, verify data/history, confirm visit purpose, obtain preliminaries

  • Complete all required documentation - assessments, interventions, education, safety plans

  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date medical and medication records

  • Oversee infection control, client hygiene, health issues under nursing leadership

  • Attend required meetings, perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership

Education and Experience:

  • Current LPN licensure in state of practice

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficient in data entry, transcription, recordkeeping across formats

  • Able to assess and provide feedback to improve programs/services

  • Strong written/verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly

  • Maintains confidentiality, protects sensitive information securely

  • Skilled in interpreting documents - lab results, notes, EHRs, rules, manuals

  • Writes clear, effective routine reports and correspondence

  • Competent in basic math calculations

  • Strong problem-solving, follows instructions, adapts to new situations

  • Willingness to learn, grow and work collaboratively

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful background check - criminal, driving, abuse/neglect

  • Complete new hire orientation

  • Complete all trainings including Relias initially and annually

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work environment, exerting up to 10 lbs force occasionally

  • Sitting most of the time, some walking/standing briefly
