UL, LLC Operations Leader- SAR in Fremont, California

UL Solutions is seeking an Operations leader (SAR) for a hybrid role based in Fremont, CA.

  • Leads and reviews comprehensive test programs, communicating project updates to clients and sales teams.

  • Defines project scope, creates test plans, and coordinates laboratory operations to meet deadlines.

  • Manages laboratory operations for a team of 20-30 people in SAR, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 standards.

  • Demonstrates expertise in managing complex laboratory operations, particularly in EMC Wireless Testing, adhering to international and domestic standards.

  • Represents UL at industry events and serves as the SME for local standards and certification programs.

  • Manages a team, sets goals, and ensures revenue generation and cost management.

  • Leads or reviews comprehensive test programs encompassing all testing technologies as assigned.

  • Maintains regular communication with clients and sales teams, providing updates on project status and results.

  • Holds accountability for defining project scope, creating test plans, reviewing reports for accuracy, adhering to agreed deadlines, and overseeing project-related activities.

  • Coordinates laboratory operations and provides instructions to lab personnel, ensuring efficient scheduling and review of testing activities to meet project timelines.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in test standards, testing technologies, and regulatory requirements within designated areas of responsibility.

  • Represents UL at industry events such as seminars, trade shows, and standards committees.

  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the local office and key customers regarding standards, industry practices, and certification programs.

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of test techniques, procedures, and equipment, and conducts standard test procedures as needed.

  • Offers training to lab staff and provides support for customer products in the lab.

  • Manages training initiatives to enhance testing capacity and quality.

  • Responds to client inquiries, addresses technical issues, explains test standards, certification requirements, and UL procedures.

  • Proactively resolves client concerns and ensures effective communication and support for customer needs within the team.

  • Collaborates with Sales to determine project specifications, negotiate completion dates, and sample requirements.

  • Meets with key customers to understand their activities and requirements, and communicates feedback to the Leadership Team.

  • Supervises a team, sets goals, provides feedback on performance, and ensures revenue generation and cost management.

  • Integrates continuous improvement principles into all job aspects and reviews internal documents for accuracy.

  • Develops special test methods and equipment for new standards or improved efficiency when necessary.

  • Engages in external business support through client meetings, industry events, and other relevant gatherings.

  • University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program, accompanied by approximately ten years of directly related work experience or equivalent education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing an ISO17025 accredited laboratory.

  • Proficient in EMC/Wireless SAR Testing with a strong working knowledge of relevant methodologies and practices

  • Total Rewards: .The salary range for this position is $114,300.00-$129,540.00+ and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position. All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. UL offers a generous 401k matching structure of up to 5% of eligible pay. Additionally, we invest an additional 4% into your retirement saving fund after your first year of continuous employment. We provide Healthcare Reimbursement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts that UL contributes to twice per year! Depending on your role, you can work with your manager on flexible working arrangements. We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation, holiday, sick and volunteer time off.
