Job Description:

About the Role:

The primary role of the Mgr., Environmental Engineering is to implement strategies supporting the Company’s environmental compliance program supporting 26 food manufacturing sites. This position also directly supports our regional and site based EHS staff on regulatory matters and environmental best practices. This includes regulatory compliance and risk management in the United States and Canada related to air emissions, waste management, and water management. This position also supports the Company’s Process Safety Management, Sustainability, and Environmental, Social, and Governance efforts.

  • Support environmental compliance effort including but not limited to air emissions, universal and hazardous waste management, wastewater, storm water, chemical management, and permitting processes.

  • Support the development, implementation, and consistent use of the Company’s EHS management system.

  • Support the development of environmental goals.

  • Establish, track, and report on leading and lagging environmental metrics to all levels within the organization.

  • Develop materials and implement training plan to increase environmental education across the organization.

  • Support the Company’s Process Safety Management program, sustainability efforts, and ESG initiatives as necessary.

  • Stay current regarding applicable regulations, best practices, tools, and processes.

Important Details: This is a full-time position located in our Oak Brook IL corporate office with a hybrid schedule and 25% travel.

About You:

You’ll fit right in if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, EHS Management or related field). Masters preferred.

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing setting or diverse consulting practice

  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste, air emissions and water discharge regulatory programs at the Federal, state, and local levels. Familiarity with Canadian requirements is preferred as well.

  • Ability to identify, assess and lead multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate results.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to articulate complex situations and influence a broad and diverse group of professionals.

  • Familiarity with day-to-day manufacturing plant operations, food industry preferred.

  • Interpreting and applying company policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Working with all levels of management and employees (eg: plant, divisional, corporate, etc.)

  • PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and others as needed.
