Overview

Reyes Fleet Management (RFM) is an essential part of Reyes Holdings. RFM services and maintains the fleet of trucks and equipment for the Reyes Family of Businesses. We are one of the largest fleets in the United States, working within our business unit distribution centers across the nation. We partner with our internal customers in the areas of asset management, safety and compliance, and training. Our goal is to assist in the reduction of cost and risk throughout the Reyes Family of Businesses. In addition to our world-class support, we also manage Reyes Academy – a state-of-the-art training facility in Fredericksburg, Virginia that trains 600+ professional drivers a year as well as transportation and other operations management.

Responsibilities

Reyes Fleet Management is hiring for the role of a Trailer Technician B for our site in Portage, IN. This role will primarily be responsible for handling repairs on new and refurbished trailers.

Shift: Full-Time l Monday -Thursday 2:30PM-1:00AM-OFF Friday-Sunday!!

Position Summary: A Trailer Upfitting Technician B is responsible for the refurbishment and remanufacturing of Company Fleet assets within the Reyes Holdings family of businesses. Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Assist with diagnosing of complex mechanical and electric problems utilizing diagnostic technology/software when applicable

  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision

  • Complete thorough documentation for work orders for repairs through the online Enterprise Asset Management system

  • Ability to install trailer refrigeration and heating units (ThermoKing and Carrier)

  • Ability to perform basic welding and metal cutting/fabrication

  • Ability to install hydraulic liftgate components

  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing trailer mechanical components (suspension, brake, electrical)

  • Assist with the diagnosing, repair, and installation of trailer roll-up and swing doors

  • Identify structural integrity and body of the asset to properly repair and replace as needed

  • Assist with the installation of external graphics

  • Replace defective components as instructed

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Work in a safe manner, per company, local, state and federal policies and regulations

  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 2 years’ related experience with trailer upfitting, mechanical repairs or diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment and demonstrates proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of all fleet assets.

  • Must be willing to obtain powered industrial truck operator certification

  • Willingness to learn and commit to training on industry technology

  • Must possess own tools (have minimum tool requirement)

  • Valid Driver’s License to operate applicable company vehicles

  • Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations

  • Ability to work any schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to utilize an on board computer and desktop computer (PC, Windows, Microsoft Programs, etc)

  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to be able to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records

  • Ability to frequently lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 50 pounds, occasionally lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 100 pounds

  • Some travel may be required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • ASE Certifications (Including Master Medium- Heavy Truck Technician) (Willingness to acquire)

  • Trade school diploma or certification

  • Refrigeration Certification (609)

  • Welding Certification or equivalent training and experience

  • Commercial Driver’s License
