The Role

The Director, Supplier Management will be responsible for directing, planning, and managing all facets of vendor performance and post order management for Lumen’s custom network strategy. As a critical member of the Lumen custom network national leadership team, this role will have oversight for a robust supplier portfolio, providing an extensive array of products & services, including responsibility for managing supplier integration, performance and disengagement/transitions. As well, this role will ensure performance standards compliance and have responsibility for material ordering and post order management, aligned to Custom Networks project schedules. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to develop, cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a wide variety of strategic & alliance type supplier partners, and possess a positive, collaborative attitude to work across internal and external organizations in the establishment and execution of sourcing, supply chain, and inventory plans.

The Main Responsibilities

Supplier Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to identify and evaluate potential suppliers for materials and labor needed for custom networks.

  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure optimal pricing and ability to operationalize contracted commercials with suppliers.

  • Oversee supplier performance evaluations, tracking key performance metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness.

  • Address identified performance gaps and/or deficiencies promptly and work collaboratively with internal cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to close gaps and improve performance.

  • Identify strategic drivers, considering factors such as cost, quality, innovation, and scalability, for the national custom network, that target speed, throughput & cost to serve, improving customer satisfaction.

  • Develop a clear roadmap for achieving sourcing goals and communicate it effectively to the team.

Material and Inventory Management

  • Cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external material providers.

  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.

  • Continually benchmark practices against best-in-class programs in order to effectively translate the analysis into action.

  • Coordinate material availability, ensuring that production lines have the necessary components.

  • Implement efficient distribution processes to minimize lead times and maintain optimal inventory levels.

  • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure necessary material storage and inventory.

Purchase Order (PO) Management and Invoicing

  • Collaborate with procurement on end-to-end purchase order processes, from creation to reconciliation.

  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and payment processing, working closely with finance and accounts payable.

  • Collaborate with demand planning teams to understand network component requirements.

  • Analyze consumption patterns, forecast demand, and collaborate with procurement to adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.

  • Collaborate with supply chain to optimize inventory levels to meet operational needs.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with 3+ years of leadership experience

  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, inventory control, and/or supplier relationship management experience

  • Familiarity with supply chain software, demand planning tools, sourcing tools, and e-procurement systems

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Results orientation with a demonstrated track record of success

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to articulate information clearly and in a well-organized format

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment, with agility, resilience, and a customer-centric mindset

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$128,310 - $171,080 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$135,060 - $180,080 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$141,820 - $189,090 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$148,570 - $198,090 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
