This position differs from other Facilities Managers. Serving the political figures,employees and visitors of Capitol Hill requires a level of tact,sensitivity,and communication not often expected at other locations. While knowledge and experience in facilities maintenance is helpful,it is not as vital as verbal and written communication,and relationship building,skills. This position will be hired in the top half of the pay range ($41.10 - $50.01/hr).   • Manage the operations and maintenance program for Capitol Hill including the oversight of maintenance and grounds staff,administer the annual operations and maintenance agreement and act as the primary liaison for DFCM on Capitol Hill for all facilities management matters.
  • Work closely with capital development and capital improvement project managers and processes to provide input on facility management perspectives.
  • Develop and maintain trust-based relationships with Capitol Preservation Board to uphold contemporary and historical facility standards for Capitol Hill.
  • Oversee staff development,training and performance management for facilities management staff.
  • Manage the annual operations and maintenance budget and provide analysis for forecasting and prioritization of capital improvement projects.
  • Work closely with Capitol Preservation Board an the Department of Public Safety to plan and implement security measures and incident response protocols for Capitol Hill facilities and grounds.
  • Present on facility issues to diverse stakeholder groups including dignitaries and elected officials.

      The Best Qualified Candidate The best qualified candidate for this position will have experience in:

  • Providing exemplary customer service with a focus on transparency,communication and accountability.

  • Managing a diverse team of subject matter experts,including delegation of responsibilities in accordance with organizational structure.
  • Composing professional written and verbal communications.
  • Interfacing with high profile dignitaries,executives and committees.
  • One of the following:
    • A bachelor's degree or higher in Facilities Management.
    • 5 years of experience managing a Facilities Maintenance Program.
    • 10 years of experience in facility maintenance and operations.
  • Collaboration with project managers and contractors.
  • A knowledge of the governmental legislative process.
