USAA Decision Science Analyst I in San Antonio, Texas

Provide decision support for business areas across the enterprise. Staff in this area will be responsible for applying mathematical and statistical techniques and/or innovative /quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change. The essence of work performed by the Decision Science Analyst involves gathering, manipulating and synthesizing data (e.g., attributes, transactions, behaviors, etc.), models and other relevant information to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.

Tasks : Leverage expert business/analytical knowledge to participate or lead discussions with cross functional teams to understand and collaborate highly complex business objectives and influence solution strategies. Analyze business problems from medium to large scale with significant impact to current and/or future business strategy. Apply innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer the business objective and drive the appropriate change. Translate recommendation into communication materials to effectively present to various levels of management. Incorporate visualization techniques to support the relevant points of the analysis and ease the understanding for less technical audiences. Identify and gather the relevant and quality data sources required to fully answer and address the problem for the recommended strategy through testing or exploratory data analysis (EDA). Integrate and transform disparate data sources and determine the appropriate data hygiene techniques to apply. Thoroughly document assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews. Rely on documentation to replicate and continue work. Understand and adopt emerging technology that can affect the application of scientific methodologies or quantitative analytical approaches to problem resolutions. Deliver analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences various levels of management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy. Provide subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations. May telecommute. (Ref: 20972.270.4)

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a program or science analyst-related occupation. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Information Technology Management, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a program or science analyst-related occupation. Position requires:

  • Marketing Cloud (Omniture) Site Catalyst;

  • Marketing Cloud (Omniture) Discover including exportation into dashboard format;

  • Dynamic Tag Manager Variables (eVars, Props, Events) and Rules (On-Page, Event and Direct Calls);

  • Dynamic Tag Manager Tealium;

  • Adobe Tag Manager, Adobe Analytics, and Google Analytics to capture visitor matrix and develop Traffic, Path & Conversion reports;

  • Validating tracking issues, missing variables and reporting or fixing issues across website and mobile apps (Android, IOS) using Charles, Fiddler and browser plug-ins;

  • Developing analytics design and implementation documents;

  • Developing reporting on key performance indicators, analyzing and interpreting trends;

  • Website analytics data platforms including CDP and DMP;

  • MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server Query Creation; and

  • Domains: Finance, Insurance, and Retail.
