The Opportunity with McKinstry We are seeking a Senior Project Development Engineer, EV Infrastructure to join McKinstry as a member of our growing Transportation Electrification team. The team supports our customer's electrification journey with a uniquely consultative approach to charging infrastructure - bringing a deep market knowledge combined with scaled construction experience. In this role, you will be a front-line solutions engineer for fleet and workplace electrification projects. You will be responsible for creating conceptual designs that meet client needs (including layouts, equipment selection, and written scope narratives), managing the creation of professional engineering design deliverables, and advancing development through estimating and pre-construction milestones. As a Senior Project Development Engineer, EV Infrastructure, additional responsibilities include: Lead site evaluation and design deliverables. Conduct site visits and identify the best solutions for electric vehicle charging. Manage preparation of engineering design drawings, specifications, and bid documents in accordance with project requirements. Lead or support vendor bid process. Collaborate with contractors and estimators to value engineer electric vehicle charging designs. Leverage your experience in problem solving, systems analysis, data analysis and communication to enable a smooth conversion to EVs for businesses, schools, transit agencies, municipalities, university campuses, hospitals, data center, and other facilities. Communication and collaboration are a large part of this role as well, frequently requiring that you partner with other McKinstry teams to deliver effective results. You will be responsible for making technical recommendations, building actionable reports, and presenting them to clients, and assisting the client with project implementation. What You Need to Succeed: BA/BS degree in Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, Environmental Science, or equivalent field of study or equivalent work experience required. A master's degree or higher is a bonus. Three plus (3+) years of project development and engineering design management for electric vehicle charging or similar electrical technology. Working knowledge of estimating preliminary budgets for electrical construction. Deep knowledge of electric vehicle charging hardware, software, and industry trends. Extensive experience with electricity utilities, understanding utility tariffs, new service application procedures. Understanding of electric vehicle charging incentives and utility programs. EIT, PE, or CEM preferred. Exceptional time management skills to organize and prioritize tasks while juggling multiple deliverables/timelines. Creative, problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service and a consultative approach.
