Position Scope

The Process Engineer Co-op is responsible for supporting engineering activities at Carbon Engineering’s Innovation Centre. The role collaborates with the Engineering, Operations, and Technical Development teams to design and implement improvements to process units, analyze run data, and troubleshoot operation.

  • This position is an 8-12 month co-op starting September 2024.

  • This position is on-site and based in Squamish, BC.

  • This position pays $22-25/hour. 

     

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Demonstrate a positive safety culture. 

  • Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace. 

  • Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy. 

    Technical

  • Support Engineering Design

  • Support projects from early design to construction and commissioning by contributing to key process deliverables (H&MBs, PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, etc.)

  • Perform engineering calculations and/or simulations for equipment/valve/pipe sizing, and other system analyses

  • Participate in Process Hazards Assessments (HAZOPS, What-If Analysis)

  • Perform field checks/inspections for projects you helped engineer

  • Maintain Engineering Documentation

  • Support document and drawing updates at Carbon Engineering’s Innovation Centre (P&IDs, Instrument Lists, Equipment Lists).

  • Support the execution of plant modifications through participation in the MoC (Management of Change) process.

  • Audit current plant documentation to identify out of date documents

  • Collaboration

  • Interface with various in-house departments (Operations, Engineering, Technology Development), external engineering partners, and vendors/fabricators on project tasks

  • Present technical information, concepts, or study results to project stakeholders

    Education and Experience

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in Canadian post-secondary institute (2nd, 3rd, or 4th year)

  • Preference to candidates in Chemical Engineering discipline (B.Eng or equivalent)

    Key Competencies:

  • Comfortable in a chemical/plant environment

  • Strong understanding of core engineering principles (thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics)

  • Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset).
