About the Role
  • The Continuous Improvement Engineer supports the divisions' leadership in the achievement of financial and operational objectives, including MFS and Magna objectives.  Leads a cross-functional team to implement Mafact and Continuous Improvement activities in the division, based on our Magna Factory Concept (MAFACT), conducts internal MAFACT Assessments and creates an improvement plan and Lead LEAN Capex Review for new projects and prepare it for approval by the Group lead.  Facilitates Kaizen workshops and teaches lean principals to operators, team leaders, supervisors and support teams
Your Responsibilities

Repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of CNC's, building, presses and equipment throughout plants including electrical repair and PLC troubleshooting.  Heavy machine repair of presses. Perform Preventive Maintenance on equipment. Install new equipment as required based on blueprints and layout schematics. Rebuild and/or refurbish equipment including CNC's, presses, conveyors, feed systems and transfers. Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and orderliness of the Maintenance Department and at machines/equipment when performing work. Support and participate in division and department improvement initiatives through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program, and sharing of knowledge, ideas, and/or best practices with co-workers.

Assist the organization in implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work and continuous improvement activities. Complete all required paperwork and computer tasks that are required for the position. Take initiative to always maintain and improve upon or facilitate overall safety by being proactive as a service provider to the people. Perform various 5S to equipment as required by MAFACT standards. Treats team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee's Charter and Common Values. 

Member of Spill Team, attend annual training. Active participation in MAFACT Teams and activities as required.   Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits Cost saving improvement suggestions, CIP's. Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.  Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment).  Reports unsafe conditions immediately to Manager/Supervisor/Leader. Create VSM for the most important value stream in the division, create a VSM roadmap to cover all high-runners and consequently work on VSM Current-Future-PDCA; Introduce/ Support PULL principle in the division, identify and track significant improvements via VSM. Initiate "Train the Trainer" programs:  provide training and coaching in the division for MAFACT & Lean principles.
