The UHTH Laboratory Assistant plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is in at Union Health. The Lab Services provides services related to lab tests, including specimen collection of the patients, and accessioning, lab tests performed on specimens, recording of lab test results, delivery of lab test results and more.

    Laboratory Assistant

    Essential Job Duties:

  • Follows Lab and Medical Group policies under manager's supervision for accurate testing and reporting of laboratory results.

  • Performs a wide range of laboratory tests, including CLIA waived and moderate complexity tests, utilizing automated, semi-automated, and manual systems.

  • Handles diverse specimen types, including blood, urine, CSF, and body fluids, with careful evaluation and preparation.

  • Maintains quality control, calibrates instruments, troubleshoots equipment, and ensures adherence to laboratory regulations.

  • Assists in training new staff, maintains patient confidentiality, participates in problem-solving, and engages in continuous education, while proficiently collecting blood specimens and performing related duties.
