JOB SUMMARY

The Sewer Drain Technician is responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and repairing sewer and drain systems. They use specialized equipment and tools to identify issues, remove obstructions, and ensure the proper functioning of drainage systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Inspection: Conduct site assessments to determine the best location and layout for sewer system installation, taking into account local building codes and regulations.

Material Procurement: Order and procure all necessary materials, including pipes, fittings, fixtures, and tools, required for the sewer system installation.

Excavation and Trenching: Excavate trenches to the appropriate depth and slope for sewer lines, ensuring proper alignment and adherence to local codes and safety standards.

Pipe Installation: Install sewer pipes, including PVC, cast iron, or other suitable materials, ensuring watertight connections, proper slopes, and alignment.

Manhole and Access Point Installation: Construct and install manholes, cleanouts, and access points to facilitate inspections and maintenance of the sewer system.

Sewer Line Connection: Connect sewer lines to plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, showers, and floor drains, ensuring proper seals and venting.

Sewer Line Testing: Perform hydraulic tests to ensure the sewer system is leak-free and functions correctly.

Sewer Ventilation: Install ventilation systems to prevent the buildup of sewer gases within buildings.

Backfilling: Properly backfill trenches with soil and compact it to restore the surface to its original condition.

Sewer Line Inspections: Utilize cameras and diagnostic equipment to inspect sewer lines, identifying blockages, leaks, or damage.

Leak Detection and Repairs: Locate and repair leaks, breaches, or damaged sections of sewer lines, replacing or patching pipes as necessary.

Root Intrusion Removal: Remove tree roots or other obstructions that may infiltrate sewer lines and cause blockages.

Code Compliance: Ensure that all sewer system installations adhere to local plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of the completed sewer system to ensure proper functionality and compliance with design specifications.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of work performed, including measurements, materials used, and any necessary permits or inspections.

Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients and property owners, addressing questions, providing progress updates, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Emergency Response: Be available for emergency sewer system repairs and provide immediate assistance as needed, even outside regular working hours.

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on sewer systems, including cleaning and servicing sewer lines and associated equipment.

Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in sewer system technology, materials, and installation techniques through training and professional development.
