SCL Health Surgical Technologist in Wheat Ridge, Colorado

Job Description:The OR Tech III performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the ORT III will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.

Our Operating Room boasts 9 surgical suites with one heart room and one cystoscopy room. Main OR specialties include: OB-GYN, Orthopedics (largest service line), General Surgery, Cardiac, Neuro, ENT, Urology, Plastics and Podiatry. We also have DaVinci robotics on-site.

Your day.

As a Surgical Technologist, you need to know how to:

Assist in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assemble, organize and complete case carts according to doctor's preference lists.

Provide appropriate instrumentation, suture and all supplies as requested and provide and m intain a sterile environment. May assist surgeon by passing instruments to surgeon during cases.

Count sponges, needles, blades and instruments using proper technique and established policy.

Assist in maintenance and care of specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis. Handle specimens, implants, dressings, soiled instruments, contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.

Assist with timely turnover of rooms, including clean up, replacement and restocking of supplies and equipment. Care for instruments and equipment.
